Sydney’s best hot dogs

El Loco
Chef Dan Hong is supervising this new pop-up Mexican Cantina featuring a foot-long hot dog covered in shavings of soft, white cheese. The hot dog wieners are bespoke, as well. They searched for quite awhile before finding a dog with “the right amount of snap”, according to Hong. 64 Foveaux St, Surry Hills 2010. (02 9211 4945). $7.

The Dip
Try this new diner at the back of GoodGod, the small club with a big heart. The ‘Lev’s Dawg’ is a beef sausage on a steamed hot-dog bun with mustard and relish. At the helm of the operation is Andrew Levins. He knows his way around a plate of nachos and loves a hot dog. 53-55 Liverpool St, Sydney 2000. (02 9267 3787). $12.

Porteño
Porteño kicks it up another notch with their little hot dogs. These hand-sized beauties are encased in a soft bun and, like everything else at this incredible Argentine barbecue joint, are filled with great quality meat. 358 Cleveland St, Surry Hills 2010. (02 8399 1440). $4.50.

Stitch
This CBD small bar offers a whole menu of hot dogs along with their excellent cocktails. Yep, you heard us. A whole. Menu. Of. Hot. Dogs. Basement Lvl, 61 York St, Sydney 2000. $17.

The Norfolk
The hipster pub du jour squiggle their hot dogs with mustard and top them with scraps of crunchy fried onion. The soft bun and regular ol’ white trash cocktail franks make them easy to smash through while hitting a few schooners. Get ‘em while they’re hot. 305 Cleveland St, Surry Hills 2010. (02 9699 3177). $7.50.
